In Christian symbology the palm branch signifies the heavenly reward (Rev 7:9) and reminds us of Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, now celebrated on Palm Sunday.
Even in very ancient times the palm fronds represented triumph, rejoicing and the announcement of good news.
